TAMKO highlights nine new Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) awards in recognition of Manufacturing Day, celebrated on October 2
This Manufacturing Day, TAMKO Building Products LLC celebrates its employees’ outstanding accomplishments in
demonstrating a dedication to workplace safety, recently represented by nine prestigious manufacturing safety
awards.
TAMKO facilities across the nation were recognized with Perfect Employee Safety Certificates and Certificates of
Safety Improvement by the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) during its annual Accident Prevention
Contest. This year, TAMKO’s facilities in Ennis, Texas; Green Cove Springs, Florida; and Inwood, West Virginia were
all awarded Perfect Employee Safety Certificates for having no lost or restricted days AND no reportable OSHA
incidents in the previous year. TAMKO also received Certificates of Safety Improvement for reducing its ARMA Safety
Index scores by 25 percent or more over the previous year at six of its locations, including Columbus, Kansas;
Frederick, Maryland; Green Cove Springs, Florida; Inwood, West Virginia; Phillipsburg, Kansas; and it’s Rangeline
facility in Joplin, Missouri.
TAMKO highlights its 2019 ARMA awards to showcase its commitment to providing safe work environments while supporting
the initiative of Manufacturing Day, celebrated this year on October 2 and annually on the first Friday of October,
highlighting the importance of the manufacturing sector and the potential of modern manufacturing technology and
careers.
“Our employees are the reason we set such a high standard for safety at TAMKO,” said David Humphreys, TAMKO’s
Chairman and CEO. “TAMKO makes it a priority to create an environment where even one workplace injury is
unacceptable because we want all our employees to go home to their families at the end of the day.”
TAMKO recognizes a responsibility and commitment to safety in all aspects of its business. Since creating its
innovative Zero Incident Safety Culture (ZISC) program in 2005, TAMKO has achieved a 78% overall reduction in OSHA
recordable injuries and continues to advance its manufacturing technology to improve workplace safety.
Over the course of its 75-year history of American manufacturing, TAMKO has received multiple safety awards and
achievements while providing safe manufacturing careers for thousands of employees across the country. The company’s
strong foundation of preserving the health and safety of employees has also helped TAMKO make a smooth transition to
implementing new and necessary safety measures during the COVID-19 pandemic.
