With strong values of honesty, integrity and compliance rooted in its foundation, TAMKO Building Products LLC has held itself to a higher standard when it comes to compliance and ethics. TAMKO is proud to announce that its Chief Compliance & Ethics Officer, Art Weiss, has been named President of the joint governing board for the Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics and the Health Care Compliance Association (SCCE/HCCA), an organization that has more than 20,000 members in over 100 countries.
“Art’s leadership in the industry is a testament to TAMKO’s company culture and dedication to compliance and ethics,” said TAMKO Chairman and CEO David Humphreys.
In 2015, the SCCE recognized TAMKO leadership with its highest award for furthering the compliance and ethics profession. This was the first time the organization gave the award to a leadership team for management support of its organizational compliance and ethics program.
“TAMKO makes an intentional effort to maintain its company culture, and with compliance as a core value at TAMKO, our leaders of all levels demonstrate that commitment,” said Weiss.
TAMKO’s practices in compliance and ethics continue to be used as examples in the organization’s educational materials. For example, faculty with the SCCE Compliance and Ethics Academy regularly reference TAMKO’s culture of treating others with dignity and respect and its philosophy of keeping its conduct “between the hash marks,” a football analogy the company uses to describe its efforts to stay in the middle of the field well within the boundary lines.
TAMKO’s philosophy, culture and leadership have also been featured several times in the Compliance and Ethics Professional magazine, where Weiss and TAMKO’s Chairman and CEO, David Humphreys, has been featured as exemplary leaders for compliance and ethics.
Weiss served on the SCCE Advisory Board for three years before being elected to the joint board (SCCE/HCCA) in 2013, and re-elected in 2016, during which time he served as Board Secretary and Board Treasurer. In November 2017, Weiss served as the Second Vice President and was named Vice President in November 2018.
Weiss joined TAMKO in October 2005 and has 20 years of experience in the compliance and ethics profession. He holds the designations of Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional-Fellow (CCEP-F) and Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional-International (CCEP-I) by the Compliance Certification Board, on which he also serves. Weiss earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Kansas and his Juris Doctor degree from Washburn University School of Law.
