TAMKO Building Products, Inc. just got a very public “Thank you” from the community it has called home for nearly 75 years. The Joplin Globe newspaper recently announced TAMKO was voted the "Best Industrial Employer" in the 2018 Readers' Choice Favorites of the Four States contest. TAMKO was one of several large Joplin employers nominated in the category.
Since its founding in Joplin in 1944, TAMKO has become a preferred employer in the Joplin-area with more than 700 employees in the four-state area, and producing about $400 million in payroll and capital spending in the four-state area in the past six years. TAMKO’s salaries, wages and benefits are at the top of the scale for the region and the average gross annual income for TAMKO production hourly employees in Missouri is more than $65,000.
Additionally, TAMKO is known throughout the Joplin-area as an employer with high standards both personally and professionally for the people it hires. And, people who get hired tend to stay. Many employees choose to spend 25-40 years with the company and retire from TAMKO. Nearly 14% of current employees have been with the company more than 25 years.
This vote showed once again how proud TAMKO employees, TAMKO customers and Joplin community members are of their association with TAMKO. Voting was completed electronically with protections in place to ensure each person could only vote once.
“It is an honor to be recognized for our company values of Honesty, Integrity and Compliance in such a public way,” said TAMKO President and CEO, David Humphreys. “We thank all who participated in the voting process and helped make this possible.”
